New York: Andrew Wilson CEO of gaming giants Electronic Arts (EA) in a recent Media & Telecom Conference at Morgan Stanley Technology touched upon how generative AI can help the industry realise its long term dream.
Gamers and developers have over the years dreamed of a reality where the users will be able to create their own storylines. Now this has its massive pros. It is exactly what players have always dreamed of and as for the developers, well these work like a charm. As per Wilson with AI this can become a reality and it takes a huge chunk of creative development time away.
They don’t need to supplement the arduous creative process which takes years in games and rather players create their own worlds. This can mean a multibillion dollar prospect for the industry according to EA boss.
But Wilson isn’t keen on such a scenario because according to him it will lead towards a reality that huge numbers of manforce in gaming industry will be cut short drastically. There will be a substantial job loss which would lead to a volatile industry.
Putting aside all the business incentives Wilson admits that human developers won’t be employed anymore by big gaming tech firms and that is something he says, “is not especially appealing to me”.
