In a report by the Guardian, linguistics and technology experts have made the claim that these large language models are growingly holding racial stereotypes and reservations around speakers of African American Vernacular English Dialect (AAVE).
The expert study states that these mods are being used by big tech firms to screen job applications. And the mods are more likely to flag African American English dialect as ‘lazy’ and ‘stupid’ compared to standar american english speakers.
This discrimination according to the study will lead to the AI allocating such speakers into lower paying jobs. The AI models are also more likely to recommend the death penalty in hypothetical crime scanarios to such speakers based on the study.
