San Francisco: In a growing list of legal issues, Open AI and CEO Sam Altman find themselves under scrutiny once again as this time tech tycoon Elon Musk has sued the company for moving breaching a pact. This adds to the growing list of legal notices the San Francisco based tech giant is receiving. So why are the Chat GPT owners in legal storm?
Elon Musk’s legal case is based that in 2015 both Open AI and Musk agreed to a non profit lab to develop AGI for the “benefit of humanity’. But according to the lawsuit the company has now turned into a “closed source de-facto subsidiary for Microsoft”.
Open AI is also fighting off a copyright infringement lawsuit against the New York Times. The Times has sued Open AI for copying millions of Times work to power its commercial products without permission or due credit.
Open AI’s returning CEO Sam Altman is additionally also being inquired by the SEC for allegations of misleading the investors. These lawsuits are a troubling sign for the company as it doubles down on its AGI mission.
